The retaining ring that comes in this kit is just a heavy stainless steel ring that can pop in and out of the filter plate. It acts as a weight to hold down the mesh so it is very easy to take in and out. If you would like something that holds in the filter a little better we offer compression rings that you pinch to move in and out.
