Why is there a $44 hasmat fee on 1 gallon of acetone? I can buy lab quality pure acetone on Amazon for $11.66/quart with FREE shipping and NO hasmat fee.

Hi Stewart. I'm not certain on the exact legislation myself, but there is regulation on solvents by volume. We ship with UPS and so UPS charges us a Hazmat fee, but for other solvents like our Iso-alcohol we ship out "one gallon" as four quart sized bottles (packaged individually) with no hazmat fee. It's just how the laws are and what UPS charges us to ship; if the volume were larger on Amazon, they would likely also charge a hazmat fee.
